Dr. Jaworski is an author, writing coach, consultant, and professor in New York. His research focuses mainly on consciousness and its relation to the brain, as well as artificial intelligence and its implications for human well-being. His 2016 book Structure and the Metaphysics of Mind (Oxford University Press) won the Alpha Sigma Nu Book Award in the Humanities, and his 2011 book Philosophy of Mind: A Comprehensive Introduction (Wiley-Blackwell) is widely used in graduate and undergraduate courses. His other academic interests include the dialogue between science and religion, the opposing roles that cognitive biases and critical thinking skills play in a democratic society, and the nature of love and its contribution to human fulfillment.
Dr. Jaworski used his knowledge of machine intelligence to help develop a patented system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to answer questions about the tax implications of business transactions (U.S. Patent # 10,706,480). He has also worked as a strategist for a startup that uses AI to do accounting work.
Dr. Jaworski was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois to his mother, a Mexican immigrant from the city of Tarimoro, and his father, whose family is originally from the outskirts of Warsaw, Poland. He first became interested in philosophy while taking a course in the subject at a local community college, and subsequently attended the University of Dallas as an undergraduate before receiving his doctorate from the University of Notre Dame.
